Peoria NEXT Soliciting Applicants for 2006 $10,000 "PEORIA PRIZE"
Posted on February 11th, 2006

Peoria NEXT is now accepting applications for the 2006 Peoria Prize for Creativity, a $10,000 prize competition honoring the creative process.

The application deadline has been extended to March 20, 2006.

The purpose of the award is to foster, recognize, and reward visionary and innovative creative projects that result between or among individuals representing the arts and sciences.

The Peoria Prize emphasizes the importance of creativity as an essential economic development tool. Inspired in part by the works of Dr. Richard Florida in his book “The Rise of the Creative Class,” the award recognizes the powerful economic impact that takes place when a culture of creativity exists in a community.

Nominees must show evidence of collaboration between members of the science and technology, business, or educational communities with members of the arts and humanities community.

Projects must be completed between January 1, 2005 and March 1, 2006. The winning project may be any manifestation of collaborative creativity.

The recipient of the Peoria Prize will receive a cash prize of $10,000 underwritten by The Peoria Civic Federation, in addition to a customized “Peoria Prize” medallion. The Prize will be presented at the 2006 Discovery Forum: A Celebration of Collaboration.
